Welcome to the most exciting area to educate the next generation of software engineers; Silicon Valley.
And congratulations on your first school on American soil.
Educating the next generation of Software Engineers via a project and peer-learning based approach to teach them problem solving, critical thinking and creativity.
With the speed at which our world is changing and the rise of artificial intelligence, knowing how to learn becomes as fundamental a skill as reading or writing.
When we created Holberton School, the first school to teach without formal teacher and lecture in the U.S., we knew that we were onto something.
Yet we could not imagine that over 1,300 people would apply to be part of the first cohort and more than 300 talented professionals would send their application to join our mentors team. Over the next decade, there will be 1.4 million Tech jobs and only 400,000 trained people to fill them.
We look forward to responsible competition in the massive effort to train Americans in digital and soft skills.
And we appreciate the magnitude of your commitment.
Because what we are doing is increasing social capital by enhancing individual and collective productivity.
Welcome to the task.
