Soft skills are taken just as seriously as technical skills here and are part of everyday life. Every weekday we do a stand up for the whole school, and students take turns giving a 2-3 min presentation on anything they choose (hobbies, tech, etc). They have to prepare slides and are given feedback post-presentation.
We have a ‘professionalism’ track that helps students learn the importance of communication and showing up on time. Students are also expected to participate during mandatory days and engage with their peers by discussing concepts, asking questions, or conducting Mock Interviews.
Whether formally assigned roles or informal cultural influences, Holberton strives to help students equip students with ALL necessary skills to perform well in the software engineering industry, and this includes soft skills.
