Trust-Less 2020 Viewing Party

February 02, 2020

About this event

Want to build a startup in the blockchain space? Join us on Feb 2nd at our San Francisco Holberton School Campus at 10:00am PST. We'll be doing an interactive screening & workshop of the Trust-Less 2020: A Proof-Of-Stake Validator Conference. Attendees will learn how to set up their own blockchain mining startup and should bring their laptops so they can participate in the workshop, ask the speaker questions online, and also get help IRL at the Holberton campus as we'll have protocol developers available to help.

Viewing Party, Feb 10 AM to 2 PM
On this day, Holberton School will be opening up our campus to the community to attend a live viewing event at our San Francisco campus. For this portion of Trust-Less 2020, there will be talks in the practical creation of Proof of Stake blockchain validators, so bring your laptops, because we'll be getting hands-on. During this viewing party, we will have engineers from San Francisco blockchain startups available to help you set up the software of your own Proof of Stake validator!

NOTE: Due to the complexity of this technology, it will be HIGHLY recommended that all attendees watch as much of the live stream on Feb 1st (details available here) as possible.

We can't wait to see you at our campus!

Ideal for people thinking about our January cohort! If you've been thinking that a career in tech and software engineering might be for you, we welcome you to visit our campus. Our program is developed to help people, both with and without previous coding experience, gain the coding skills and learning techniques to maintain a lifelong, high-value career in tech.

We'd like to invite prospective students, family members, and anyone curious to learn more about how we're changing STEM education from the ground up. We'll talk about our methods, the learning techniques we help our students develop, and what a student would experience through their education at Holberton. The evening will include:

• Informal meet & greet with staff, students, and mentors.

• Parents/Staff Q&A featuring a panel of industry professionals.

•And of course, light refreshments!

Student Portfolio Project Showcase

After studying for 9+ months at Holberton, the foundations curriculum culminates with students creating and presenting a Portfolio Project.

The Portfolio Project serves several different purposes:

  1. Highlights a Student’s unique interests and background when networking, or interviewing with potential employers.
  2. Provides a realistic workplace scenario where engineers create a solution to fit loosely defined requirements, break this down into concrete tasks and implement on a deadline.
  3. Allows for self-directed learning to explore a new technical topic, deepen understanding of a curriculum-covered topic, or use technology to bring an idea to life.

Throughout the day, students present their projects, and live demo to staff, students, and professional advisors.

Wether you are a prospective student or looking to hire software engineers, we invite you to join us for this amazing day. Stop in anytime between 10am to 5pm to check out Holbeton Student Portfolio Projects, and see for yourself what makes Holberton so unique. If you are interested in a specific technology, an in-depth itinerary of the day will be posted about a week in advance.
